Days 11 and 12

Karen had her first interview with the U.S. Embassy Tuesday, Day 11. The whole thing was short and sweet, but the officer gave us a little scare by saying that the approval usually takes four business days but could be stretched to two weeks because of an investigation into Phu Tho. However, Bridget had her interview next with the same agent and was told something completely different. We have since learned that the term "investigation" is used pretty loosely at the embassy and isn't necessarily something to worry about. We're praying to get info. on Tanner's visa on Monday.
Today, Wednesday day 12, Tanner was supposed to have his physical at the SOS Clinic. The hospital ended up having some kind of emergency and they cancelled all appts. They have been rescheduled for tomorrow. We're anxious to find out how much he weighs. Once this appt. is out of the way there will be just one final interview with the embassy to receive Tanner's visa and they can come home!
Karen had a little incident with nature this morning. Apparently mini Godzilla found his way into the hotel room. There are little lizards in Vietnam, we had one in our room while I was there and they're difficult to catch. They are fast! To make matters worse (or funny, from our point of view) there was a bit of a language barrier with the receptionist. She was trying to explain that there was an unwanted guest in the room and he apparently thought she was trying to order breakfast! MMMM, I wonder what you'd dip that in. Once they were on the same page, some poor guy had to run around the room trying to catch this thing. In the end the lizard found refuge behind the air conditioner. So, Karen is now armed with one of those electrified fly swatters! I wish there were a video!!

I can picture it now.... Karen is standing on the bed holding Tanner and the bug zapper thing when the lizard comes out from hiding. I don't think she will even use the bug zapper...she will be running out of the room. And I'm sure she is getting oh so much sleep knowing that there is a creature in her room that could come out at any time. So anyways it sounds like Karen and Tanner may come home sooner than expected? That would be great. There are lots of people waiting to get their hands on that little munchkin!

Oh my!! I would have loved to see that video as well. Tanner was probobly wondering what he had gotten himself into. Maybe Karen you are in a grass hut??...or at least with a door that is in need of some weather stripping. You're better than I am. I would have been running down the hall screaming only to realize half way that I had left Tanner in the room with Godzilla!! By the way we did get your e-mail so that is working fine. Hope the good news from the embassy comes soon.
Love
Ann Marie

Oh my gosh! I hate those little lizard things so much!!! I hope she can catch it and get it out of her room. Hmm, something else to look forward to when we travel. Ugh!
I'm glad everything is progressing for them. Your in my thoughts and prayers to get the visa quickly and come home!

Aunt Karen,
I love you but i just have to say that i would pay incredible ammounts of money to watch you vs. godzilla, i would even buy tickets to round two and three. I am glad that things still seem to be moving smoothly. My only complaint is no new pictures of Tanner. The scenery is beautiful don't get me wrong, but i can see that in a coffee table book, and unless theres something you arent telling us i'm pretty sure there are no coffee table books of tanner (but how sweet would that be?). I hope everything continues to go well for you over there and good luck with youre "friend".
I love you both,
Caitlin

Hey you two -- I've been quietly reading all you've had to say everyday. I can only imagine you screaming your way around the room, Karen, trying to catch your "friend" (or should I say getting someone else to do the job). Unfortunately I'm finding it funny at your expense -- sooooo sorry (I think?????? -- LOL) But, you all are still in my thoughts and prayers. I can't wait to see that little present from God in person!!!!

Love, Lori A.

Karen and Tanner,

Did Tanner get to watch the man chase the lizard all around the hotel room? That probably entertained him for awhile! And to think you almost got breakfast out of it.lol I'm glad to hear you are able to eat some of the food in Vietnam, Did you try peanut butter on rice noodles for a change ? It could be interesting.lol I'm glad to hear Tanner is healthy and doing well - except for the sleeping. That will come in time(Karen you're getting paid back for all the times we had to take turns sleeping with you so you would go to bed!lol
I hope the physical goes well and they get your interview done so you and Tanner can come home soon. I know Cori is anxious for you both to come home. I'm sure the kids can't wait to hold Tanner - They probably are willing to take turns sleeping with him too. I'm sure Angel or Barish would volumteer to cuddle with him too!
You and Tanner take care and know we are thinking of you all. I made my reservations today to come to Buffalo on 11-1. and leave on Sunday. Talk to you soon. Love, Dee

How funny! I give you a lot of credit, I would have been running with Ann and sending someone back for Tanner!
Patience is not my strong point, I can't wait to see you both home! Good luck with all the appointments.
Do you have a picture of Tanner smiling? I think I would melt.
I'm thinking of you often and impatiently waiting for your return.
All my love, Missi

Karen,
Interesting Diane reminded me of a child who slept with her parents until she was three. Then at that point she roamed the house looking for bed partners. Usually it was not me!! i was the mean sister since you stole my spot as the baby!! Nice!!
I hope when you get home Tanner will sleep in our old bedroom or we may have to move the crib into your room. We could use yours i think it is still in the attic!! Now that's a LOL!
Just think with a video you could have won the $10,000 on America's Home video's and started a college fund for Tanner. Next time have someone capture the moment or reinact it!!
